General Occupational Therapy

Staying safe, independent, and comfortable in your own home is something most of us take for granted until a health change, a fall, or the gradual effects of ageing begin to make everyday tasks more challenging. This is where Occupational Therapy can make a transformative difference.

My general OT service is designed for older adults facing physical challenges and those experiencing the effects of mild cognitive impairment, dementia, or age-related functional change. I take a practical, compassionate approach working in your home, assessing your real environment, and giving you guidance that is immediately useful.

A Note on Dementia and Cognitive Change

Living with dementia or early cognitive change requires a thoughtful, environment-centred approach. Small, well-considered adaptations to the home improved lighting, clear labelling, simplified layouts, removal of trip hazards can significantly reduce anxiety and confusion while promoting safety and confidence. I work sensitively with clients and their families to identify the most helpful changes and to support carers in understanding and responding to shifting needs.
